Info Request

Hello,

Are the frames rolling up and down? Or sideways?

Hi Francis,

The frames don't roll, they stay as they are supposed to. I have horizontal white lines that roll up the screen. They distort the picture as they move up the screen, I'd like to fix that. Does this info help?

Thanks,

Joe

Ok. Thank you for that info.

Is the white line really horizontal or inclined a little bit. I am thinking it could be the horizontal masking line that became visible.

The line is horizontal, and there are four evenly spaced blips just above the line. There are two lines with blips, spaced about eight inches apart, that roll up the screen continuously.

Answer

Ok.

Thank you for that info. It seems the frame are overlapping. I am not sure if it could be corrected by adjusting the vertical hold rheostat. It should be adjustable on the outside.

The problem could be the frames are rolling very fast that you looked at it as steady. They are overlapping each other but the horizontal frames are visible and rolling .

If this could not be corrected by adjusting the vertical hold, then it is an electronic part getting leaky such as a capacitor or a transistor inside the unit in the vertical circuitry.

If the vertical hold is not located at the back, then you will have to open the cabinet BUT be VERY CAREFUL about the high voltage flyback transformer. It will get your hair up once you got a shock out of it.

Francis,

The picture is stable and doesn't move. The lines are from side to side and roll up the screen from bottom to top. There are two adjustments on the back of the cabinet, neither one has an effect on the rolling lines.

Answer

OK.

Thank you for that info. I am sorry but I can not help you now if the adjustment did not work.

You could have a bad component and it would need a component check of the parts on the board which we can not do here. As I have mentioned earlier, it could be a leaky capacitor.

I will opt out and your question will be open again for other expert to answer it.

Thank you very much for using JustAnswer.

Greetings XXXXXXXXXXXXX, you will not find a control of any kind for the CTC185 chassis to correct your problem. The bars of distortion you see travelling slowly up the screen are the result of a power supply problem. The problem is either failed or failing electrolytic capacitors or other filtering component that is supposed to eliminate any AC ripple from a DC supply line. If there are no obvious signs of bloated, domed topped or leaking capacitors, burnt resistors or circuit trace, then troubleshooting with an oscilloscope would be essential to narrowing down the faulty supply line.

If you need additional information, please let me know.
