Question

Our 9 year old grandson is on holiday with his family in Dubai. He has developed a high temperature 37.5C, and has a cough and sore throat. It has been diagnosed locally as 'viral bronchitis, but could this be mistaken for swine flu?

The swine flu is caused by h1n1 virus and the symptoms are similar to any other viral illness.The definitive diagnosis of swine flu is by blood test.You may have it done to rule out this.

 

The treatment of viral illness is symptomatic and the drugs like tamiflu may help in controlling the symptoms of swine flu.
