I have a 2000 BMW 528i sports wagon,acouple of months ago,the YELLOW ABS,DSC.CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON,then the speedometer quit working.and the tripometer would go from 50 to 300,today,the EML light came on and the engine has no power,is this all do to the computer?

Already Tried:
before the EML light came on,I took it to a mech.,not dealer,and he tuned it up but could not find any problems and thought it could be the computer

Hi, depending on what faults are stored, it likely needs a new throttle, and engine wiring harness this is a common issue, and bmw has a bulletin out for it.
The mechanic didn't read the engine fault codes?

would a wireing harness cause a engine to run rough and the wireing harness have anything to do with the speedometer not working and the tripometer be erratic

The faulty wiring harness would cause the engine to run rough. As far as the speedo issue, this shouldn't affect the speedo. It could be caused by voltage supply as well.
Alternators are also a problem source on these models too.
To confirm or deny this, you would need to check battery voltage when the problem occurs with the engine running. If its more than 14.5, or less than 12v, the alternator is at fault.
The easier method would be to have the fault codes read with a bmw specific scan tool, this will point the technician right to the problem.
