Question

My daughter has forgotten her log on password and cannot access her laptop it is just out of warranty. We have pressed the alt f10 kays but it is now asking for a an empowering technology pass word.As she has never set one we do not know what to do.

Hi,

Then there's only one other way to get it and it's not that easy

Boot off of the Ubuntu Live CD: Download it here
Browse to PQSERVICE hidden partition.
Open "aimsdrs.dat" with text editor. (in root folder not "tools")
and "password" PD= "____" and "hint" HD="____"
are given and can be edited.

So PD= is the password.

That's the only other way to obtain it. If you cannot do it then you'll have to order recovery CDs from Acer.
