Answer

The problem is with the sensor you installed, volvo is very critical when it comes to sensors and vital engine electronics. Basically you need to get a Volvo OEM part from the dealer as your replacement part. When you installed this universal sensor did you have to cut the harness to install the sensor? The ECM uses resistance values in its heater circuits as information, the aftermarket part you installed is not going to read the same as OEM.

Really appreciate your quick response. OUCH! $340.70 at the local Volvo bandit store. Two questions. I see some $150 or so Bosh "direct replacements" Do yo know of any in that range that would work? Second where is the connector end of the sensor located? Possibly a 3rd if not against the rules, How in the heck do you change the right front turn signal? Thanks again Larry

Accepted Answer

Dont waste your time and money with direct replacements, it may be expensive but OEM is the only fix, the connector end is on the transmission side of the enginebay toward the back on top of the trans, the r/f turn signal is tight isnt it? You must remove the washer fluid resevoir neck by removing the torx 25 holding it on, then reach down and turn the grey connector, a tip for installation is to lube the seal on the socket so it turns easier, oh and dont just change the bulb, it needs the socket as well.
