Optional Information
State/Country relating to Question: Pennsylvania
Accepted Answer
The elderly person would need to provide someone she trusts with a Durable Power of Attorney, which allows the designated person to act on her behalf even if she becomes incompetent. She will also want to visit an estate planning attorney to help her plan ahead. She may also want to designate someone who makes medical decisions which would require a Health Care Power of Attorney.
