Question

You will be dealing with a 75 year old gent that has zero tech capability.. I installed windows 7 and did not backup my files. I was using Kaspersky antivirus 2009 and had 200 plus days remaining on my contract. Windows 7 install blew it out into the etherworld somewhere. It would not recognize my 2009 activation code when I tried to reinstall it. I then installed your online 2010 sample program and it ran for 3 days then this morning it was not running. I tried to restart it but it won't.In simple terms, what needs to be done to get my 2009 program integrated with the 2010 up and running?

Hi XXXXXXXXXXXXX. Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer. The other Experts and I are working on your answer.

From what I can tell, the only thing you can do at this point is uninstall both versions of Kaspersky and reinstall the one that you want/need.

1. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
2. Click the listing for Kaspersky 2009, then click Uninstall.
3. Click the listing for Kaspersky 2010, then click Uninstall.
4. Download (to your Desktop) and Run the Kaspersky Removal Tool from this link:

http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208279463

5. Restart your computer.
6. Reinstall Kaspersky 2009 on your computer.

It's possible that you may have to upgrade to the 2010 version for Windows 7 compatibility. Contact Kaspersky to see if they will give you a discount because of the time left on your 2009 subscription.

Thank you again for trusting us with your problem. Please reply as soon as possible letting me know if this worked for you.

Magic: When I tried to uninstall, received "Error 1719. Windows installer service could not be accessed. Contact your support personnel (you, my words) to verify that it is properly registered and enabled." Ron

Answer

Since steps 1 - 3 did not work, just do steps 4-6 and tell me if it works for you.

Kaspersky removed, so I rebooted computer and began to install out of the box Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 and was unable to install because of 2 errors 1719 and 1321, 1321 says setup Wizard has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010\avp.exe, so where am I now?

Answer

Thank you for the update. Try this:

1. Run the Kaspersky Removal Tool again to remove the remainder of Kaspersky 2010,
2. Click Start > Computer.
3. Double click the following: C > Program Files.
4. Locate and click on the listing Kaspersky Lab (like the listing you stated before: C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab).
5. Press the Delete (Del) key on your keyboard.
6. Restart your computer.
7. Try to reinstall Kaspersky 2010 again.
