My two story brick condo needs foundation repair with helical piles on front of house. Can this damage my neighbors attached unit next to me? When I get mine repaired will the other attached units cause problems to my repaired foundation.

Hi XXXXXXX

The answers to your questions depends on the soil conditions and if your foundation is an extension of your neighbor's foundation. If your neighbor's foundation is connected to yours shoring up your foundation will likely stop (to a certain extent) their foundation from settling any more. But if their foundation is also on poor quality soil then the portion of the neighbor's unit that is furthest from you could continue to settle causing some cracks in their foundation. If your project is done correctly you should not experience continuing problems after the work is completed but if you are in a townhouse whose foundation is just a segment of a larger foundation for the entire building then the entire foundation should be shored up if necessary not just your unit. This type of work is typically the condo associations responsibility. Of course your condo docs could be structured differently than what is typical.
