Question
I have three questions..... I have 128,000 miles on my 2002 volvo s80 and I am being told that I should have a transmision flush, and that if I have the transmission drained I will only be able to replace about 4 of the 16 quarts. I think I did a transmission flush once already. What is your opinion? I also have to have a engine block cap replaced, how does this randomly come out? Finally, the top engine motor mount is broken should I get this replaced as well. Thanks for your help

Answer
Hi XXXXXXXXXXX,
First of all yes the transmission should be flushed not drained every 30,000 miles.
Second not sure "engine block cap" could that be a freeze plug. I would need the part number that was installed. If it is then they rust out from old coolant mixture
Third. Yes replace the engine mount. Undue stress can cause other failures, RE:
transmission with excessive torque applied, Coolant hoses attached to the radiator could cause radiator neck to break.
Hope this helps you.. Thanks for asking.... Get back to me on the second point to clarify..
Have a good day,

The part number is V08687868-3 Listed as a sealing plug. I was told it is a plug in the oil system and that oil is leaking and this definitely needs to be replaced. I was told the part is like 5 bucks but total cost is $162 yikes!!!!! Of course these three things add some bucks to the total bill and I want to make sure it is worth it. But I cannot get a new car so I need my car to last and I need to take good care of it. Thanks for you opinion.

Answer
Hi again.. here is a picture of the plugs.. I would ask if they are seeping or leaking. If they are leaking then it is must. Seeping would be "can I wait till next service" .
Hope this answers your concern. Jim

Yes seems like if it was missing then should have been a pretty good oil leak.. humm..
