if i do a head job on my volvo 940 will it put more stress on the rest of the engine

Hi XXXX XXXXXX,
My name is Jim< To answer your question I need to know how many miles do you have on your engine. Has it ever overheated to the point of boiling over, Do you use any oil presently ? If you have over 100,000 miles yes you could put more stress on the lower end. RE: rings, causing the use of more engine oil ,, may result in fouled spark plugs. If everything seems to be good as far as no overheating, no oil use between changes then I would go ahead with a vavle job. The machine shop may be able to help determine this for you.

hi jim the engine has done 164000 miles aprox its not boild over ore use to much oil i had a colent hose go the aa told me it was a breather they didnot top up the water as a result it overheated so now the head gaskit has gone so it is eather do the job ore scrap the car so you see my problem regards dennis

Yes, It would be kinda risky to do a valve job but, what is the car worth ? Rule of thumb :
Repair should be half of car value>. So valve job is around $1200 You may luck out and be ok but it is a chance..
