Question

Occasionally my 2007 CX 7 will develop a lot of smoke out of the exhaust for about 1/4 mile then clear up...it only does this after it has been idling for a while it would seem. It does not do this often and the oil does not seem to go down very much..There is also a smell of oil inside the car if the air fan is on when stationary and the engine hot.. Does anyone have any clues..the service people here haven't a clue. Is it an occasional leak in the turbo ...a stuck air valve..any help would be very much appreciated before I leave for Florida.. Thanks John

Okay a couple things to check. First is going to be a cheap PCV valve. Positive crank case ventilation. The second is the lines going from this valve to intake. MUST be no leaks. THE PCV valve allows for the "blowby" the pressure that gets past pistons; to return back through the injection system. If this is bad or hoses are, then there will be an extra build up of pressure and will push oil past seals. The thing your going to need a good mechanic for is inspecting your turbo seal this is probably where its comming from. Leaking past seal on idel, then being forced back through the intake through motor and out exhaust as smoke. Hope this helps
