Hello,

If your cat has an eye infection in both eyes, which is possible according to the symptoms you describe, he will need an antibiotic eye ointment and/or drops, to help resolve the infection. Oral antibiotics alone, will not help resolve an eye infection. If you've never administered eye drops or ointment to your cat, you will find these instructions helpful:

It's also possible that your cat got some tiny particles of debris in his eyes and that has irritated them and possibly scratched his cornea. He also may be experiencing an allergic reaction to something he contacted in the house, or outside, if he spends any time outdoors.

If the oral antibiotics were prescribed by a vet for your cat's eye condition, he needs to be evaluated by a different vet in person, and a definite diagnosis needs to be made, then he can be treated most appropriately. For the moment, you can gently apply a cool, damp, wrung out tea bag to your cat's eyelids, and this will help to temporarily draw out infection and help reduce swelling. However, he does need to be seen by a vet in person and examined, to find out what has caused these symptoms, then he will be prescribed treatment.

I hope all will be well with your furry boy.
