Question

My 15 year old Russian Blue has been vomiting and has had mild diahrea. The fluids she vomits are clear and somewhat foamy. Her diahrea is lumpy. She has continued her normal behaviors such as playing with our 1 year old, chasing mice, eating her normal amount, etc... She has been doing this for about two weeks. Do I need to worry.

Info Request

Hi, thanks for your question. Is she drinking more water than usual? Is she losing any weight?

Reply

She has been drinking more water, not a lot. No she hasn't lost any weight.

Accepted Answer

Thanks for your reply. I'm glad to hear that there's no weight loss... but I am concerned about vomiting and diarrhea in a senior cat, because it can be a sign of serious illnesses, such as Hyperthyroidism, Diabetes, Kidney Disease, Pancreatitis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, or Intestinal Cancer! These illnesses are much more responsive to treatment when diagnosed early, so I strongly advise having your veterinarian run some blood tests to see what might be going on internally.
