Hello Southern Gent,
I assume that since you are receiving SS, that you are a US citizen. If that is the case, and if you are receiving an inheritance from a foreign country, you will owe no tax on this inheritance, regardless of how much you receive.
Any gifts or bequests which you receive from a foreign source that exceed the amount of $100,000 in one year must be reported to the IRS by filing Form 3520 to report the amount you received. There is no tax due with that form, but it is a reporting requirement.
If you were contacted by email regarding this inheritance, please make sure that you do not send these people any money or pay any fees to get this inheritance, as many people have been vicitims of scams which advertise that you have an inheritance coming to you from another country. If this inheritance is legitimate, you should not have to pay any up front fees to receive it.
If this was helpful please press the Accept button. Positive feedback is also appreciated.
Thank you Southern Gent.

THAT SOUNDS,GREAT,THANK YOU FOR WORKING ON MY ANSWER,BUT I AM AFRAID,THAT I WASN'T QUITE HONEST,OR VERY,CLEAR,WITH YOU.IN MY OPENING QUESTION.AND,I DON'T KNOW,IF THAT AFFECTS,YOUR ANSWER OR NOT.BUT,THE TRUTH IS,I DON'T THINK,THEY WILL BE SENDING ME ANY PAPERWORK,ALONG,WITH,THE MONEY.AS THIS REASLLY,ISN'T AN INHERITANCE FROM A BLOOD RELATIVE,IT'S MORE LIKE,FINALLY,PAYING BACK A DEBT,THAT WAS OWED,TO MY GRANDFATHER,FOR THE PAST 50 + YEARS. HE HAS,SINCE DIED AND I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE DEBT,AND PERSUED IT,FOR THE PAST,THREE YEARS,WITH THE HELP OF THE FBI,AND THE IMF & THE U.N,UNTILL,I WAS FINALLY,GRANTED THE CONTRACT/INHERITANCE,WHICH,I SHOULD RECEIVE,ANY DAY,NOW.

Answer
Hello again SouthernGent,
Actually this would still be treated the same as an inheritance, as if your grandfather was owed a debt, then that money would be part of his estate, and you are now receiving this money which should have been part of his estate.
So the same tax laws would apply here and you would still report receipt of this money on Form 3520. No taxes will be due.

Thank you SouthernGent
