Question
Just last week I was very lucky to have found a diamond in the rough. It is a 1964 14'fiberglass starcraft boat motor & trailer, with a 60 hp johnson all original. This is where my questions come in.Will you tell me the correct spark plugs to use and the right pitch prop to put on so I won't hurt the motor and am I right to assume that the oil mixture is 25 to 1? I have turned the engine over but have not tried to start it yet.One more question, what is the correct lower unit oil to use? Thanks for your help. Jerry Ingram at XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Hello. The gas to oil mix should be 50:1 - that is, 16 ounces of oil to 6 gallons of gas. You can use standard marine lower unit oil available in any marine store. My chart shows that plug as a Champion J4C with a gap of .030. Does it have a prop on it now? If so, what size and pitch is it? BTW, the model is probably VX-VXL-10
