Question

I get an error that my hp 6310 printer is not connected. I send in the error. The solution is to delete and reinstall the printer driver. On my printer list, I have two printers drivers by the same name. One works fine the other is the problem. How do I delete just one. Delete in the printer menu does not work. Bye for now, George

Already Tried:
I called a service to put this printer on a home network. Which they did connecting it physically to the wireless router. My laptop connects by wireless card to the router. I see the 6310 printer and can use it. There now exits a second copy of the driver in the printer and scanner list. That is the one with the no connection error.

My name is Ryan and I would like to assist you with your question today. To remove 1 printer driver please do the following:

  1. Open Printers and Faxes.
    • Note: To open Printers and Faxes, click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.


  2. On the File menu, click Server Properties, and then click the Drivers tab.

  3. In the Installed printer drivers list, click the driver you want to remove, click Remove, and then click Yes to confirm.

Hi Ryan,

 

I have never seen that part of the printer/ scanner options befor.

 

Heres the problem. I have listed 5 printers, 2 of them are 6310, one is the working 6310, the second is 6310 fax and the others are different printers that I want to keep right now.

The one I was looking for was 6310 (copy1) which is how it is listed in my printer/ scanner window, I could delete all the 6310 drivers which would include the good one but I don't have the 6310 drivers on diskette and to download them from a site takes 2 hours. I was hoping for a quicker solution.

 

Is there any way I can let you see my screen?

 

I have a skype address and I could take off the camera and show your the screen.

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately per the JustAnswer Terms of Service we are unable to do remote desktop and communicate with you any other way then through this site like we are.

To my knowledge if right clicking on the 6310 (copy1) icon and selecting delete/remove doesn't work then the way I suggested would be the only way to do what you want to. To remove the whole driver and re-download it from the link below:

How do I paste a picture here or add a word.doc with a screen shot on it.

 

If I do delete how do I re-establish the driver?

Thank you for the quick reply.

To once the driver is downloaded it will prompt you to install it, once installed it should be re-established and ready to print with.

To paste a screen shot push the button on your keyboard that says "print screen" then click start, click all programs, click accessories, then click on Paint. When the Paint window opens then click edit and then click paste, and it should paste the screen shot. Now save it as a jpeg.
