Question

I'm trying to decide between a Roadtrek 210 newer model and a Pleasure-way Excel. I want the enclosed bathroom. Mechanically, why would you recommend Roadtrek over Pleasure-way?

Answer

I have worked on both of these units throughout my career, there's a reason that these two are industry leaders in the products they produce. Your not going to go wrong with either. Your comparing apples to apples. So it boils down to price and personal taste in trim and appointments in the unit. As for chassis selection I'm a Chevy guy, however the dodge chassis with the mercedes power plant is a great option, again personal preference, The interior appliances are the same components and most made by the same mfgrs. Sorry there's no clear cut #1 only because they're both are. Thx Jeff

Thanks. That appears to be our opinion, except for the following:

Storage is important to us. In the 2003-2006 years, does one have an advantage over the other? Also we are looking at Ford V-10s and you didn't mention them. Is there a problem with them. We have a 1994 Pleasureway on a Dodge 318 motor, and we get 15-17 mpg. We notice the newer ones seem to get less gas mileage. Do you know of any differences in the Dodge, Chevy or Fords re mileage? We are not considering the deisel, partly because of Freightliner body design and wind issues.

Accepted Answer

The ford is a solid choice also, gas mialage has decreased with the addition of higher grade appliances and add'l options , and the all important horsepower increase. The only drawback to ford is that I have seen some transmission failures on the larger coaches, not so much the van conversions.
