Question
My 2 year old standard poodle got ate a bag of 8-10 strawberries yesterday and though she was fine earlier today, she's now exhibiting signs of an upset stomach and I want to make sure it isn't bloat. She is acting as though she maybe has cramps -- sitting or lying down for a bit, and then darting over to me and standing and panting. Her stomach doesn't feel tight, though it is a little full for her. She isn't vomiting or attempting to vomit, but it's been awhile since her last bowel movement and her stomach was gurgling a lot earlier, but now it's quieted down. She isn't eating - not even her treats, which is very unlike her - and she's panting, though not salivating excessively. She also doesn't seem to want to drink much water, though she had a bit about an hour ago. Her gums are pink and in pulling at the skin on her back, she doesn't seem dehydrated. When I've rubbed her back, she's burped a couple times. Any idea what the matter might be?

She has had a little bit of water into which I put about 10 drops of Homeopet, which is mean to relieve digestive upset. She's now just standing and crouching her back. I've felt her stomach and again, it's not terribly tight and she'd letting me lift her up from the stomach without whining or crying (though she isn't really a whiner.)

Hi, thanks for your question. Are her gums a normal pink color, or do they seem pale, or more red than normal? Is she able to rest comfortably, or is she pacing around?

Her gums are a slightly paler pink than her tongue. She's not pacing now, but about 10 minutes ago she got up from the prone position to race over to the corner of the room, where she's been standing and panting intermittently.
Accepted Answer
Overall, the lack of any retching / unproductive attempts at vomiting, make a diagnosis of "Bloat" or "GDV" somewhat less likely, however, based on the other symptoms, and the breed, I think that it would be excellent peace-of-mind to have him examined and x-rayed by a veterinarian as soon as possible. I'm sure it's not the answer you wanted to hear, but Bloat can be such a serious issue, that it's better to catch it early, in order to have the best chance for success at treatment. In all likelihood, this is probably some digestive upset such as Gastroenteritis, but I would feel much better if you at least had an x-ray to be sure it's not Bloat.
