Question

I have a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara Luxury that I tow behind a motorhome--4 wheels on the ground. It seems to tow perfectly, but I am only getting 18,000 miles per set of tires. Tire wear is very even and four wheel alignment was checked & found ok. I tow about 7,000 miles per year and drive about 8,000 miles. I am now on my third set of tires and they now have only 5/32 of tread remaining after 7,000 towed miles and about 7,000 miles driven. The dealer can not find anything wrong. I normally tow at 62 mph and stop at least every 200 miles and run the engine in drive. I drive at a moderate speed. Should I just accept this tire wear or may there be a problem? I have been unable to tell if tire wear is more rapid when towing or driving? My tow setup looks good to me, but the tow bar is about 1 1/2 inches higher where attached to the car than to the motorhome.

Optional Information

Year: 2006
Make: Suzuki
Model: Grand Vitara Luxury
Engine: V6

Already Tried:
My tire dealer, Big O says the 4 wheel alighnment is ok and tires are balanced. The first set of tires were Yokahama Geolanders and the last two replacements were Goodyear Integrity. The first set of tires were not rotated and the back tires were woren to the wear bars when there was good tread left on the front tires. The tread wear on the tires was even and there was no cupping or increased wear on the edges compared to the middle of the tires. The last two sets were rotated regularly and wear is even.
