Question

My fiance has been sick a month now, his Dr thought it was allergies, then he went into a walk in clinic who took a blood test. The test showed wacky thyroid levels, and weird adrenal readings. His symptoms are very swollen face, swollen ankles and feet. He is 51 years old, healthy. He has had headaches, excessive night time urination, elevated heart rate, poor sleeping fatigue, blood test showed anemia, muscle aches, eye redness, pain on movement, vision phantoms, morning brain fog. He had an appointment in over 10 days with an endoctrinologist, I got it moved up to Wed at 1pm, but i am still worried that he might go into a coma or have a stroke, what do you think? Oh, and his Mom had her thyroid surgically removed after gouider and pus filled it.

Answer

Hi and thank you for yoru question. All of these symptoms combined are suggestive of adrenal fatique. Did he have a cortisol level done, if so what was the result?

We don't know what the cortisol levels were, but the blood test had the thyroid level opposite of the adrenal markers, Mark doesn't remember which was high and which was low, but the clinic said that it did not make sense how it was, that it shouldn't be that way. Don't know if that helps, but my concern is that while he awaits the appointment with the specialist he keels over in a stroke or goes into a coma. I have alot of medical education and he looks BAD to me. His face is so very swollen and he is in pain, please advise if you think it is OK for him to wait til Wednesday or if i should take him into the emergency room.

Accepted Answer

No,in view of your opinion and description of his current status, I do not think it is ok for him to wait. I think you should take him to the emergency room, they should have an endocrinologist on staff that can look in to this promptly and begin treating him now.
Please click accept. I wish him the best.
