Not sure. I also have itchy/burning patches on my face and right forearm. These areas aren't blistered

I take Zyrtec and Prilosec daily. I completed a round of Duracef on thursday (cellulitis) and then had to take Diflucan (300mg) on friday.

Did the Dr think this could be a reaction to the duracef?

I did not get the reaction until day 10 of the antibiotic

Answer

That does not necessarily preclude an allergic response. Certain antibiotics can take a week after taking them to show signs. Allergic responses happen when there are no more receptor sites to accept the allergen. While I can not be sure this is the reason, this is a possibility.

This is the fourth time I have had this skin condition. This is the first time I have taken Duracef.....?????? Dermatologist did testing for Lupus, etc. All negative. Would a urinalysis test for BUN? I had a complete physical friday (before this problem occurred) and I did a urinalysis

Accepted Answer

no, a urinalysis is looking for urinary infections as well as protein or blood in the urine. A blood test is needed for the BUN. Some skin eruptions remain a mystery despite the diligent work of the physician because they can be caused by anything from detergent to food to medications to clothing fibers to diseases etc..
