Question

I have a 1988 Eliminator Daytona 23' with a mercruiser I/O and don't know what model it is. All the numbers I can find is: RHXS W2479 and the outdrive unit has a decal (original) 775. It's a large unit with a cleaver prop. It is coupled to a 1:1 ratio velvetdrive Model 10 18 014. Is this drive package a speedmaster? If so, what edition? I believe this boat to have been custom built originally for the Hedman family (Hedman Heders) but do not know for a fact. It has a twin turbo'd BBC and I'm planning to restore it and need to order manuals for the sterndrive. Thanks for your help. Bob

Looks to be a IV SSM or V SSM.
I'll do a little more research and see what I can find out.

I'm surprised that Mercuiser's wesite is not more helpful regarding tracing info on these older units. Theres 1,000's out there still running strong. I'll wait to hear from you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you on my end to help. Bob

Ok Bob,

Even though I can't tell which drive IV or V it is it doesn't seem to make a difference with these two books.

Mercruiser parts list/book is 90-13668 17.95 Mercury warehouses show to have 1 left in Fond Du Lac, WI.

Mercruiser service manual is 90-815526 84.95 Mercury has 3 of these/same warehouse.

Any Mercury dealer can order these for you.
