Question

Hi, My computer doesn't work other than in safe mode, the internet and media programs won't open in 'normal' mode. I think a plug-in may have caused it, but i've tried everthing i know to fix it (including F8 before start-up; repair your computer etc). Help?

Accepted Answer

Restart the computer and start in Safe Mode with Networking

Use the following link to download trial version of Antimalware (do not purchase anything)

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button

Click on green colored Download Now button for the download to begin

Once downloaded, Install it and scan your computer.

Select Perform quick scan, click on Scan

When completed, it will give you the option to Remove Selected (if it finds any infection)

When completed, restart the computer and let me know the results.

I see. Start in safe mode and try to run system restore again. Try to select a date before the problem started.

Another option is to take a backup of your data after starting the system in safe mode and then use the inbuilt recovery option to restore it to factory defaults.

I think you need to press F11 during startup to start the recovery process.

Please let me know if recovery is not an option.
