Question

I purchased a bronze ceiling fan (UPC Number 792145350972) which was a display model at Home Depot in 2005 and was not able to install it until today. The sticker on top of the fan indicates that it was manufactured in November 2004. I believe that the model number is either AC416, or E7579. After installing it this morning, I noticed that it does not have any strings/cords on it to adjust the speed of the fan, so I am wondering if it should have come with a remote control or possible a special wall switch. Please let me know if it should have come with a remote or a wall switch. I would really like to be able to adjust the speed of the fan. Thank you

Does the fan look like this-click here- and if so, are there holes where pull chains should be.

It looks different than that. It has a glass bowl bottom.

XXXXXXXX,

You can send a pic if you like. I am trying to determine if your model has the holes for pull chains. Here is another pic - click here - you would see these knobs with holes on your fan. If you don't see any then it most likely doesn't have pull chains.

To determine if it should have a remote, you will see an approximate 12 inch wire antenna on the top of the fan.

XXXXXXXX,

I do not think your fan has pull chains, but I am not finding very much information on it. I believe it was supposed to have a remote. I would do the following: Home Depot has a special phone number just for Hampton Bay replacement parts: 1-877-527-0313. Give them the name, model number, etc. and see if you can purchase a remote for your fan.
