Hi and thank you for your question. I am sorry you are going through this. If you have an inherited form of hemolytic anemia, it's a lifelong condition that may require ongoing treatment. If you have an acquired form of hemolytic anemia, it may go away once its cause can be found and corrected. As you know, blood transfusions are used to treat severe hemolytic anemia. These may have to be done fairly often. Medicines can improve some types of hemolytic anemia, especially autoimmune hemolytic anemia.Corticosteroid medicines, such as prednisone, are used to limit or prevent your immune system from making antibodies against red blood cells, which your Dr has done. Then next course of action is the one you are on now,Rituxan, which is a monoclonal antibody which specifically targets mature B Lymphocytes.
