Answer

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that your rabbit is having this issue. Large growths as you are describing can be from several things. Reactions to insect bites or stings, embedded ticks, parasites, and dental infections (odd, but they can manifest this way) are all common culprits. At home, depending on the breed of your pet, you can trim the hair back from around it and clean daily with a saline solution. That said, it would be advisable to have her into your vet as antibiotics will likely be needed. I hope she's doing better soon.

i cant afford to take her to a vet right now, is there anything else i can do for her?

we have already cleaned the wound. it just continues to grow and it now so large that the "bubble" is weighing her chin down.

Hi,

Unfortunatly at home, keeping it clean and the hair trimmed back is the extent of what one can do. This may need to be drained and will very likely need antibiotics. I understand that finances are tight. In such, consider contacting your local SPCA and letting them know the situation. They often have (or can refer you to) sliding scale clinics to get the help you need. The House Rabbit Society may be able to connect you with someone that can help (low cost or free) in your area; just be sure to explain the situation in full: http://www.rabbit.org/ I hope she's doing better soon.
