Question

I have a 1989 GMC Safari/Van v-6,my son bought-It has 174,000 miles on It-Runs Rough It has a skip/miss that is steady.If I give It more gas,It'll bog down-sometimes backfiring out the exaust.It seems to run a little smoother in lower gear-but even then I have to feather it-It also shakes/bounces when at an idle-I need to get It tuned up-It's a v-6 RWD-I don't want to spend a million dollars on an older vehicle,What are the parts in a BASIC tune up: I know there is 1)Plugs/Plugwires-Distributor 2)Cap/Rotor 3)Airfilter-My confusion is a)are there still points in an 89V-689v6,is there still that littler module thingy under the Distributor cap(screws down).Any crucial stuff to get(BASIC/LOW COST/TUNE UP)-(WHAT are they)-obviously I dont want to put much of money into something/old/high mi.Just Enough so thmake It run smooth-I got a Bone Disease-Now I'm A WHEELCHAIR-lost my job and money is low-Can You LIST THEM HERE:or E-maiil me at: XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX thanks Tim Holycross
