Question

Someone I know went and got married in the state of Arkansas. He just found out that the girl he married is legally married in the state of Oklahoma. How were they able to get married in the state of Arkansas if she's still married in Oklahoma? Also, how hard will it be for him to divorce her and can he do this in his own state or do he have to go back to Arkansas?

ANSWERS:

1. They were able to get "married" because she obviously lied on the application for a marriage license.

2. The "marriage" entered into in Arkansas is nul, void and of no legal effect; they are

not legally married because one cannot enter a marriage, if that person is still

married to someone else.

3. The parties will not have to get divorced because they were never legally married
