Question

I have a top loading Kenmore 800 Series washer that's 2 years old. When I set the washer, it starts to fill but the water drains immediately. This causes the washer to not run the wash cycle. The fabric softener that I put it is still sitting in the reservoir.

so if you start a cycle it will just run forever draining and filling at the same time?

No, it does end. But clothes are still wet, looks like soap still there and the softener is still in the dispenser.

ok but it doesn't agitate at all? And if you move the timer to spin and drain, will it spin and drain?

It seems like it never starts agitating, maybe because it does'nt fill. I just set it to spin and it's spinning, letting the softener out and draining.

Accepted Answer

ok that means that your drain hose is siphoning the water out. Make sure your drain hose goes up to the top of the cabinet before going into the drain spout. More importantly, make sure the drain hose does not go down the drain spout further than 12 inches at the very most. If you push it down further or it falls down, it will start siphoning the water out as it's filling and never reach the level where it needs to start agitating.
