Question

"I am a 46yo (white) female, I have been checking statistics for stomach cancer and I do see as a female and with my race the odds are very low. So heres my story. For the last 2 months I have been getting stomach "pain" more uncomfortable than pain, along with a feeling of "fullness" sometimes with a sense of nausea. No weight loss. I would say I have been getting indigestion and reflux for as long as I can remember. About a year ago I got a barium swallow test that showed that I have a hiatal hernia. 3 months ago I got a cbc and esr which both were fine So I have been to my gp twice in the last month,he put me on Kapidex and switched to Nexium and I have gotten no relief from either. Last week he ordered a ultra sound and a blood test for H pylori which both were fine. Is it possible to get stomach cancer without having h pylori? If this was gastritis wouldn't these med have worked? I have completly convinced myelf that I have stomach cancer and cannot think straight, I have a app with a galtrologist but not until Nov 11 Thanks for your input "

Hi and thank you for your question. I am sorry you are having such a difficult time with your stomach. While it is possible to have stomach cancer without having H pilori, it more than likely would have been seen when you had your barium swallow done. The hiatle hernia is more than enough reason to justify all of your symptoms. SInce the medication has not worked, has your physician suggested endoscopic or surgical treatment?
