Question

I was working on a Bryant 310 and one of your associates determined that I should change the control board after i saw that the code was constantly flashing at a fast rate. While replacing the board a jumper fell off from the thermostat terminals and I am not sure where it came from. This is a heat only 2 wire system and the wires from the thermostat were connected to R,W. My question is should there be a jumper and on what terminals?

hello again!

The jumper in the thermostat id there to join R and Rc. This is only necessary if the system has air conditioning. Since this is heat only you can leave the jumper out.

The thermostat terminals i refer to are on the furnace control board. This is where the jumper fell from. The terminals are R,Y,W,24 com and G.

Ok, I remeber that one well, had a recall in 97 and had to replace over 300 of them. But there was not a jumper on that board. Are you sure it was something mounted to the board?

When I first went to see the problem i saw the jumper next to the thermostat input wires. Now I am wondering if someone was messing with it. If you say it is not supposed to be there should i try it anyway?. Remember it is a heating only system.
