Can you pull the metal clip up with a small hook?

Reply

yes..I was able to push the metal c-clip up. But the plastic connection to the thermostat would not budge

Accepted Answer

Ok, soak it with WD40 and just pull hard. They are all tough to get off. If the clip is up it will come off. Also why changing the coolant so early? The stuff in there is good for at least 4 years. Make sure you refill with BMW fluid though.
