Question

I just purchase a used 2008 911 with 10,600 miles and had to put in over a quart of oil after only 250 miles. I plan to take the car to the dealer but they are saying that this can be within Porsche specification. This seem excessive and not acceptabe to me. What can be causing this after only 10,600 miles?

Hello XXXXXXXXXX, Welcome to justanswer!

Over a quart of oil in 250 miles ia a bit excessive, even for a Porsche. Most likely the oil was a little low to begin with. If you had a leak that large you would be leaving puddles under the car everywhere you went. If you were burning that much oil you would see clouds of smoke every time you got on it.

I would recommend that you top it off and recheck it after another 250 miles. I would say that 1 quart of oil is acceptable every 1000 miles but this is about the maximum amoun for just about any car. Most of the 3.6 non turbo motors will use around 1/2 a quart every 1000 miles.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with

Thanks,

Todd
