Answer

hello welcome to the site.

you have just experienced a clutch failure. the disk has reached its limit and will need to be replaced.the fact that the car can be put into gear and it does not move is a 100% positive on a clutch issue.

the clutch disk is what provides power from the engine and the transmission.

average cost to replace a clutch is in the area of 300-450 depending on the labor rate and price parts.

is there any way possible it can be something else... do you think i can fix it my self

Answer

if its not the clutch then a axle or internal transmission problem.

this is something that you could do but you will need more them basic hand tools to complete this job. the transmission will need to be removed if the clutch needs to be replaced.

when this is running and in gear do you hear any noise or just the engine running ?

if no noise is heard only the engine is running then time for a clutch and if you hear noise like grinding or something rattling around under the car then a axle or internal transmission problem.this will need to be inspected.

so would the best bet be to take it to like a pep boys and have them fix it or should i try to fix it

Accepted Answer

well if you don't have the correct tools to do this task then yes pep boys would be a great option. you will need a air compressor 2 floor jacks and air tools and a good selection of metric sockets and wrenches to start.
