Question

I have a '91 Saab 9000S; I am trying to replace the hoses running from the engine to the heater, and parts sites list so many choices it's really confusing. VIN is YS3CK55B9M1024952. I want to replace ALL the hoses; I'm getting a 'fog' when I turn on the heater (hopefully it's not the heater also). The hoses are -as far as I know the dealer didn't replace any- original!

Optional Information

Year: 1991
Make: Saab
Model: 9000S
Engine: 2.3 16-valve

Already Tried:
I just had the radiator hoses replaced. Now I tried looking under the car to see what else needed doing (as I said I am getting a fog inside the car when the herater is on) and I saw the hose running from the engine to the heater was cracked & needs replacing. I can't tell if there is only one or many, so I went online to the Saabsite, and I saw a long list of hoses. I can identify two, I think....maybe not.

Greetings XXXXXXX,....The fog is due to seepage from the heater core seams...this is extremely common on 9000 models ;so if you havent changed the core yet I would advise doing it now...the hoses you require are included in the heater core kit as the new core has updated hose configuration...jeffrey590

Thank you, jeffrey590, Are dealers the only places to get heater core kits? If not, can you recommend good sources in the US? Esp. CA...

The updated kit:which I highly recommend;is only available from the dealer...It is pricey but carries a 1 year parts and labor warranty which is well worth the cost...The Saab core is well manufactured and even though I'm sure you can save a few bucks with an aftermarket core,I have NEVER seen a SAAB replacement core leak....so once you change it you'll be set for the life of the vehicle...jeffrey590
