Question

I have a tremendous problem with extra lubrication. It’s been about three years that when ever I am going to have sex or when I am having sex I lubricate too much, to the point that I don’t feel anything. I asked my doctor and he told me that the extreme wetness is normal in some woman (I am 35). However, it has gotten to the point that my husband and I are having problems because when we have sex it pretty much feels like nothing due to the lubrication. I have also noticed that in the mornings it is even worst. To be totally honest when I know I am going to have sex I put a tampon to dry my self at least a little bit. Can some one please help me?

Greetings.

The watery discharge you get on arousal can be discharge from the Skene's glands. The Skene's glands are small glands on either side of the vagina whose main function is to secrete a clear watery discharge to lubricate the vagina during sexual intercourse. In most women, this discharge is minimal and not noticeable and is sufficient enough to just lubricate the vagina. Some women may get increased secretion form these glands suddenly at some point, even when the discharge is not much at other times.

The other condition to be considered is cervix erosion or ectropion. The cells of the mouth of the cervix undergoes certain changes (from squamous to columnar cells) and these cells can produce a large amount of clear discharge. Ectropion is also sometimes called erosion, which is not a correct term and should not be used. Ectropion usually does not need treatment, as it is usually an asymptomatic diseases; except in the occasional occurrence of excessive mucous discharge or spotting that is very bothersome to the woman. Ectropion is eversion of the cervix. Following treatment can be done;

1) boric acid suppositories 600 mg vaginally at bedtime

2) cryocautery

3) electrocautery
