Yes the panel will need to be removed......here is the information:

 

Removing and installing left or right front door trim panel

  • Unfasten screw (1) in air duct.
  • If necessary lift out footwell light (2) and remove connector.

Version with seat memory:

  • If necessary, lift out memory switch (3) and remove connector.

  • Remove toggle switch (1) for side window operation.
  • Lift out seal cap (2) and unfasten screw.

  • Unclip door trim panel all around.

  • Pull door trim upwards out of door clip and slide door handle (1) through the door trim panel.

  • Remove door clip.

Installation Note:

  • Install door clip in bracket in the door trim panel.

Installation Note:

  • Clips (1) are longer than the other clips.
  • If necessary, replace damaged clips.

Installation Note:

  • Slide cable (1) with acoustic insulation (2) through the bore (3).

Installation Note:
After assembling the door trim panel proceed as follows:

  1. Open door window.
  2. Close door.
  3. Lock with vehicle key.
  4. Check whether the linkage on the retaining knob can move freely.
  5. If necessary, dismantle door trim panel and align the linkage.
  6. Fit door trim panel.
  7. Repeat points 1 to 4. If O.K., repeat with point 8.
  8. Coat window cavity cover strip with anti-friction agent and start assembly at front.
  9. If necessary, fit rear window cavity cover strip with wooden block and plastic hammer.

Version up to 03/01 (Bowden cable with hook):
Pull Bowden cable (1) towards rear and unhook from door opener.

Unlock Bowden cable and unhook:

  • Tighten unlocking lever (1)
  • Lever out lock (2)
  • Detach Bowden cable (3) towards rear/top
  • Adhesive tape (4) is only required for series pro assembly

Installation: For installation, press unlocking lever (1) complete opener (5).
