Question

My mother passed away suddenly, and her little Bichon Frise is in serious mourning. I took him to see her at the funeral home prior to embalming, and they allowed him to come to both the viewing & service. I've put her linens in his hidey-hole & Buffy's made a nest. Is there anything more I can do to ease his pain?

I've put my mother's linens in his bed, and left her coats on "his" chair. He was also at the funeral home and smelled her several times.

Very little. I don't know his feeding times, but he could use to lose a couple pounds.

Dear friend,

As I said,, I am so sorry for your loss.

I know this is a very hard time for you. It is for the dog as well.

All of a sudden his master is gone and everyone around him is sad and crying.

Hes a dog so its very hard for him to understand what is going on and why.

I think its great you have given him items your mother used so he can oick up her scent. It was also a good idea to let him see the body so he knows he passed away and did not just leave him.

The rest will just take some time.

Offer him some real food.Try a small amount of boiled chicken with all fat drained off, chop meat , or baby food with no onion, beef, turkey, etc

Get a DAP plug-in at a pet store:

Try to be patient... give him plennty of love and affection and he should be fine.

If you need me, I will always be here for you.......

Warmest best wishes,

Terri
