THE OFFICE SUITE I AM TRYING TO RE-INSTALL IS AN UPGRADE AND NOW IT WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE MICROSOFT COMPONENTS SUCH AS MICROSOFT WORKS REQUIRED FOR AN UPGRADE

OFFICE SMALL BUSINESS 2007 I CAN NOT SE WHAT VERSION OF WORKS IS INSTALLED BUT I ALSO HAVE THE READER FOR POWERPOINT 2008 INSTALLED FOR SOME REASON - DOES THAT QUALIFY FOR AN UPGRADE?

Answer

Ok,

According to the Microsoft site as long as you have an activated copy of Works 6 or above yo ushould be able to upgrade http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101754511033.aspx

So having said that have you opened any of the works programs and activated the product?

If not can you go ahead and open one of the works programs from Start, Programs then reboot and see if you can install Office again, If you get any errors let me know exactly what it says

Thanks

Eric

well, tried to install again to no avail. i have works 9 on my machine with all its elements working. when i prompt the installation window to the works suite it comes back that the path given is not for an upgradeable product.

Accepted Answer

Great,

I take it you have not updated the machine yet?

If not can you follow this link to a Microsoft article and patch which should take care of this issue for you http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943290

Basically there is a known glitch when upgrading to Office from works 9 and the patch in that link should allow you to upgrade.

Let me know if you have any issues

Thanks

Eric

Ok,

I am sorry that that did not work for you, Usually that patch then a reboot will take care of the path not found for upgrade issue.
