Question

In Aug. '09 moved from WI. to Southwest FL. Temp extremes of high 90's & high humidity meant using A/C constantly. Not accustomed to temps or A/C. Developed sinus infection, used Levaquin X 10 days. No improvement. Low grade temp, sore throat, bad headache. Returned to urgent care, now bronchitis. Biaxin, 2 tabs/day,hycodan cough syrup, ventolin inhaler. No improvement. Back to urgent care 3rd time. Still low grade temp, sore throat, headache, chest xray neg, blood work normal. Dx. mold induced asthma. Prednisone, z-pak, cough syrup. Through all of this have had deep cough bringing up clear phlegm X 6-7 wks. Cough & phlegm just won't abate. Electrician found mold under ceiling cap of light fixture we switched out. A/C filter changed. A/C people suspect mold in A/C ducts causing poor air circulation/contaminated air. Monitors presently in home to check quality of air. Further inspection will be done tomorrow. What is the next step to ridding myself of HA's, cough, phlegm, temp?

Hi, Thank you for your question. In my opinion the next step is to take this information to your landlord and demand a refund and move! If you own you might want to consider temporary relocation while you have the ac ducts cleaned and the rest of the house inspected and cleared of the mold. As long as you are exposed to this condition you will continue to have these or similar health issues.
