Question

My husband got bitten by a mysterious bug on the elbow 2 days ago. He's elbow is now swollen (you can place a dollar bill over the entire area that's swollen) and red. He also says his legs feel like he ran a marathon. He feels chilly, and we just took his temperature. His temperature was normal. He is also undergoing a lot of personal stress, so we aren't sure if the physical symptoms are coincidence or symptomatic of the bite. When should we take him to the doctor?

No itching but lots of redness

Hello,

 

This appears to be an Allergic Reaction to a possible bug bite.

 

He can try taking OTC Antihistaminics like Allegra / Cetrizine, that should help relieve the swelling and redness.

 

If this still persists, please see a doctor for injectible antihistaminics and also probably steroids.
