Question

I have a GS 6000 Homelite generator. I started it up and it ran for abut 5 minutes then shut off. I checked the oil and it is right to the top. The spark plug is firing, but it is dry. I checked the tubing to the carb and qas is flowing. What can the problem be. does the low oil shut off stop the flow gas or the ignition?

Answer

The fuel may be getting to the carb, but not getting from the carb to the combustion chamber. I would suggest that you remove the carburetor and give it a good cleaning and then put in a rebuild kit. The needle valve may be sticking in the carb and not allowing the bowl to fill up.
