TEch told me primary water pan in furnace overflowed and poured into 2nd pan causing water to come out of upper spout which in turned cause rust stains on exterior of 2-story house. Fix is to have 2 guys lift furnace and level pan so water flows properly into lower spout at bottom of house at a cost of $400; he gave me a cost of installation of new Ruud 13seer 80% 5T system (ac and furnace) at 8300. Old units are 17 years old. Is this a reasonable offer or could I do better with someone else or just pay 400 to lift furnace.and forget about getting new A/C and furnace?
Thanks
Hi,
The 17 year old unit still used the metal pan which is probably disintegrating I would take the opportunity to replace the system before investing the money into the old one, at 17 years old they will be looking at a major repair in the not too distant future anyway.
8,300 for a complete 5 ton system sounds about average , you may be bale to find it for a little less and you will probably get estimates for a little more. They are probably right in the middle if the range.

I understand, and you can go with the repair. Its really not that expensive and just buy some time out of it.
Hi ,
I can only give you an opinion form my experience on the products, RUUD is a Rheem product they are basically the same unit with a different sticker, I don't believe that they are on the same level as a Trane or Carrier unit but they are not bad units.
No problem,
