Question

Our 6 mo old lab was bit on her upper leg where the muscle is by our older dog. There is 1 small puncture wound and the muscle is swollen. She is limping but it is not keeping her from getting around. Should I wrap it?

Hello. Thanks for writing in. Wrapping it may help to control the swelling, but it won't work as well as placing an ice pack around the swelling. I would have your vet check this out today. If the puncture wound is that deep to create swelling and pain, she really needs to be on antibiotics. There is a very high chance of infection, if it has not already started. In addition, your vet can prescribe some safe anti-inflammatory medication that will help control the pain and swelling better than anything else. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helps.
