Sorry, came from the saab.com website and realize that this site was for all makes. I'm trying to replace the automatic trans in my '93 Saab 900s with a 5-spd from an '86 no- turbo Saab. Both cars have the 16 valve engine with the one in the '93 being a turbo. Not sure if the '86 has a turbo because I can't get the hood open all the way to see up front.

Hello sir and thanks for using Just Answer. The transmission ARE interchangable between differnt engines, 16 valve, 8 valve, turbo non-turbo, HOWEVER, other components are not such as the axles will surely be differnt. You'll have to probably switch the axl drivers on the trannys, you'll need some special tools to get the clutch slave,disc,and pressure plate apart on the manual trans. All in all this is a pretty big job if your a novice. I would recommend having the entire donor car available to you until your done because your going to need lots of parts off of it, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a Haynes/Chilton book about older Saabs.
