Answer

Thank you for the additional information. Licking and swallowing indicates nausea, and while the pepcid can help manage mild nausea, your dog might require something stronger that is only available by prescription. Medicines like metoclopramide are available in tablet form and are not very expensive. Your vet should be able to provide you with a prescription to keep at home and give as needed. You might also consider asking your vet to run a G.I. blood panel if not already done. This type of panel typically needs to be sent to an outside referance lab, but can give alot of information for dogs with chronic digestive problems. Sometimes supplementation with vitamin B12 is helpful. See the following website for more information on exocrine pancreatic insufficiency for more information.

How much vitamin B12 is safe for a dog about 48 lbs and I do have some reglan the vet gave me to try I have not yet should I give this to him @ night would it be safe to give him every night? He has a beautiful coat and no dandruff

Accepted Answer

The B12 is something your personal vet will need to guide you on. It is best given in injectable form, but your vet knows your dogs entire medical history and can better decide if it will help or not. You can give the reglan tonight, and can give it every night if needed. You may find that you need it every few days or so. Please call your vet to discuss the B12 before you try to administer any you might find over the counter, it might be contraindicated.
