OK, thank you for the response. Even though you may have killed all of the fleas (good job!), there is still a chance that this problem is a flea allergy dermatitis. The flea saliva remains in the skin after the flea is gone, much like a mosquito bite on a person - and the itching can last for many days or more, especially if the dog is continually biting and scratching the area, sometimes leading to infection.

You can try to apply a hydrocortisone cream to the affected area, and bathe with an oatmeal shampoo using cool water only, but many cases of flea allergy dermatitis require a short course of steroids by injection or pill form, from a veterinarian.

If there's no improvement with the hydrocortisone and oatmeal shampoo, you'll need to see a veterinarian.
