Hello XXXXXXXXXXX, is the check engine light on? DOes this only happen at idle? How does the vehicle drive at higher speeds?

no check engine light is off, at first it did have the check engine for a misfire but i changed the plugs and wires, and the check engine light hasnt turned on since, and it only happens at idle and when i start the car it stutters a little like it wants to shut off, the rpms drop to about 200 and then back up to 700 , and it drives fine at higher speeds its doesnt stutter or anything

Answer

Okay. You need to start by cleaning out the throttle body. This is where the air intake tube meets the engine. Remove the intake tube and clean this out with throttle body cleaner.

ok, but would the timing have anything to do with it? cuz ive ran a fuel system cleaning service thru my car since i work at mobil1 lube express, and it still does it... i know the fuel pumps on these cars are known for crapping out easily also

Accepted Answer

The timing does not have anything to do with this. The throttle body commonly becomes dirty. It may also be a fuel issue but this would cause it to run bad at higher rpm's too.
