Just bought a 2006 chevy trailblazer 6 days ago, The gas cap light came on so I thought It was just loosing vacume so I bought a new one and they cleared the code, only to have the check engine light come back on. Now there is a po1400 code that my mechanice says I need to take back to the dealer.called the local dealer and there advice was to bring it in for test and this could amount up to 500.00. Then this morning the gas cap light came back on. Any suggestions

Welcome. This code has something to do with a cold start emissions. There's not much diagnosis for the code, but what they do indicate is to check the intake for any leaks, dirty air filter, dirty throttle plates, any exhaust restrictions or leaks, or if there is a situation where the engine idle is raised within the first 70 seconds after the engine starts. Also this code will sat depending on other codes in the system. Considering that your gas cap indicator has come on, I would fix that one 1st. It is likely the cause of this code as well.
