Question

I have leaky chimney and had two roofers look at it. One roofer says its leaking because the cricket slope stops about six to eight inches before the chimney corners. he said the best way to fix it is to extend the cricket to corners of chimney. The other one said cricket is built right and best way to stop leak is to cement around flashing. Who's right

Actually, they are both right.

If you try to fill the gap where the leak is with suitable caulking or with Henry's roofing cement, eventually it will dry out, shrink and become brittle, since caulk or Henry's is designed to fill only small areas while maintaining contact with the surrounding surfaces.

Extend as recommended AND use the proper materials to seal. That's the optimal long term solution. If you only cement it is a quick fix but not permanent.
